Jack Van Ommen is the un-official historian on the Botter yacht "De Groote Beer". The so called Herman Goering yacht. It was built in Holland during the 2nd WW. His uncle built the mast and spars and provided the blocks and rigging. There have been cover page articles in Wooden Boat Sep/Oct 2012 and in "Spiegel der Zeilvaart" under his name about Groote Beer and Botters.
Author of "The Mastmakers' Daughters" (www.TheMastmakersDaughters.us) and "SoloMan" (www.SoloMan.us) Grandson of a fourth generation Dutch mastmaker. Solo circumnavigator in a 30 foot NAJA plywood triple chine kit boat.
