A 1.5 hour chalk talk that touches on the history and process of sailmaking from materials and design to machine sewing and handwork. Lecture includes information on tools, sail inventory, and types of rigs. All this interspersed with a few choice sea stories on light air sailing, storm sail tactics, and passage making!

Sailmaker, sailor, writer, sail instructor, founder and owner of Port Townsend Sails. One of the original Wooden Boat Festival organizers, Carol has a deep love of wooden boats. She has sailed over 50,000 miles offshore in many of the world's waters.
